I am a handmade artist myself and can really appreciate anyone who can create handmade goods. I try to help support handmade artists as much as I can because a lot of skill, time and passion goes into their products. Novica is a great place to browse hundreds of handmade and fair trade items from sellers that are located all around the world. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it would be nice to find her a special and unique gift. Novica features everything from silk fans to batik shawls to mens cufflinks from India.
When I purchased my house last year, I had a vision on how I wanted my master bathroom to look. I have it painted in baby blue with green, yellow and purple accent colors. The theme of the room is hummingbirds and trees. I quickly realized that finding hummingbird wall accents were not as easy as I thought.
Luckily, I was able to find the perfect hummingbird wall accessory from J. Blas (at Novica) to accompany my bathroom wall. I was surprised at how quickly the package arrived and it was already wrapped up in beautiful gift wrap, which made it feel like Christmas to me. It also arrived with a little gift card that told me all about the artist himself and information about the Violet Hummingbird.
This stunning Violet Hummingbird is made from iron and is shaped by hand and features cutout motifs. The metal has swirls of almost red and violet colors that make it stunning in any light. I also like the large metal hook in the back, which, made it very easy for me to hang on the wall. It also has metal rods that stick out from the back to give the hummingbird a 3-D look, when it is on the wall. It is said in Mexico that whenever someone sees a hummingbird in flight, they are supposed to make a wish.
