This last issue of Food Network Magazine showcased a recipe with chocolate ice cubes. I thought it would be fun to re-create the recipe using heart ice cube molds, which, I was able to find in the dollar bin today at Target. My kids helped me make these easy ice cubes and we thought these were so cute for a Valentine’s Day theme. Why chocolate ice cubes? They aren’t actually ice cubes, more like frozen chocolate. You can put them in a clear glass and pour milk over top of them…allowing them to dissolve in the milk…making chocolate milk.
What you will need:
1 cup of whole milk (I used heavy whipping cream)
1/4 cup of water
1 tbs of unsweetend cocoa
1 tsp of sugar
3/4 cup of bittersweet chocolate chips
Place the milk, water, cocoa and sugar in a pan on the stove top and allow it to simmer while constantly whisk (until all the lumps are dissolved). Remove the pan from heat and stir in the bittersweet chocolate chips. Allow the mixture to cool for 5 minutes and then pour into ice cube molds and place in the freezer until frozen.
