I love avocados! They are great to eat by themselves, to make guacamole, dips, in your salad and on your sandwich or burger. I always get so upset after I buy avocados from the grocery store because they only last a day or two before they go bad. It frustrates me to think that I spend so much money on avocados and sometimes don’t get to enjoy them. Paradise Grove sells some of the best avocados I have ever seen or tried before. The Grove itself is located in Ventura County, California and has been in operation since 1981.
Each avocado is picked once they reach the size of 8 ounces. That is one big avocado! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first opened the Paradise Grove avocado box. The size of the avocado’s is just amazingly big, especially when you compare them to the grocery store avocado (which seem very small). Paradise Grove avocados can take up to 7 days to ripen, which, I found true. You can also keep the avocados in the fridge for up to 7 days once they are ripe, to ensure freshness.
Avocado Dip:
Cook 1 red onion (diced) and 10 canned jalapeno rings (diced) om 1 tsp of olive oil for 5 minutes. Puree the onion and jalapeno mix along with 2 diced avocados, 1/2 cup cilantro, 1 cup crumbled feta, 1/4 cup lemon juice and 3 tbs olive oil and salt (for taste). Serve with toasted bread and/or veggie sticks.
Paradise Grove is located on 250 acres in the coastal foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains in Ventura County, California. Our current grove manager, Kurt Johnson, planted our first tree in 1981. Kurt has managed all day-to-day operations of the grove since 1989. In February 2007, the grove was acquired by Pat and Janette Byrne. Although the grove has new owners, the management and employees have remained relatively unchanged. Several of our employees are second generation.
“I have worked here for more than 30 years. It is not only my job but my home.” Kurt Johnson
Once the Byrnes owned their own grove they became spoiled by the delicious, high quality Avocados. They noticed how difficult it was to find anything similar in the grocery store.
Upon learning that Paradise Grove sells most of their Avocados to food service companies for sale only in fine restaurants, the Byrnes decided to create their own website. They wanted the ability to sell their Avocados directly to the public so others could enjoy their delicious fruit as well – and now they can!
